THE LEGEND LIVES ON

MAD - AN AUDIO DESIGN FOR YOU

THE MAD HISTORY OF A STAGE FOR DESIGNER

In 2005, The MAD Conductor – Timothy Jung took a pivotal step in his journey by establishing the MAD Designer Stage at the Newton Institute in London. This milestone marked a new era in the world of Haute Fidelity (Hi Fi), where Jung’s vision was brought to life through a blend of innovation, creativity, and meticulous craftsmanship. At the heart of this endeavor was the philosophy instilled in him by his grandfather, Kant Yung—a genius who had trained the youthful MAD Conductor to observe with his eyes, listen with his ears, touch with his hands, and sense with his heart.

The Newton Institute became more than just a design studio; it was a sanctuary where the boundaries of sound were pushed to new heights. Here, Jung assembled a remarkable team of leading scientists, celebrated musicians, and masterful engineers, all contributing to a symphony of innovation that would soon captivate the world. Every loudspeaker born from MAD was more than a product; it was a piece of art, crafted with the precision and passion of haute fidelity couture.

These were not mere objects, but experiences—each one a testament to Jung’s relentless pursuit of perfection. The world quickly took notice, and MAD became synonymous with unparalleled quality and innovation, a name whispered among those who seek the extraordinary.

Timothy Jung’s legacy is not just about sound; it’s about creating an enduring statement of luxury, where technology meets artistry in a dance as timeless as the very music it celebrates.

THE DIAMOND JUBILEE
The most advanced loudspeakers technology of the World

The MAD Diamond Jubilee is more than a Super Diamond; it is the culmination of an intensive research project launched and announced at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. Representing 12 years of painstaking development, it stands as the most advanced loudspeaker system in the world, an unparalleled masterpiece of Haute Fidelity Couture, seamlessly blends sophisticated taste, aesthetic, style, engineering and art. Available for order only for 2015 delivery.

This transcendent creation delivers more than just sound; it brings music to life, whispering heavenly notes into your ears like a breeze on Mont Blanc, while evoking the breathtaking beauty of the Gower Peninsula. The Diamond Jubileetransforms any space into a harmonious paradise, a sanctuary of sonic perfection unlike anything experienced before. It is not just a loudspeaker—it is the ultimate elevation of sound into pure, immersive artistry.

At the heart of this extraordinary piece lies the result of over three decades of pioneering research into the subtleties of musicality, psychoacoustics, and the connection between sound and the human soul. The Diamond Jubilee fully disappears sonically, conjuring an ultra-three-dimensional soundstage, transforming even conventional stereo recordings into an immersive experience of sublime clarity and emotion.

Our unique approach ensures an ultra-wide diffusion of music, creating an auditory experience that seems to defy the boundaries of space. The music vanishes, leaving only a profound emotional connection in its place. This delicate vanishing act is made possible through intricate mathematical principles that reflect the balance and harmony of the natural world itself.

Following the global acclaim for MAD’s previous innovations, the MAD Designer Stage unveiled its most ambitious creation to date: The Diamond Jubilee. A masterpiece born from collaboration with experts in vibration, automotive design, aerospace, materials science, and acoustics, it marries cutting-edge engineering with aesthetic brilliance.

At its core is the CPS (Coherent Point Source) driver, further developed from the NCC ultra-precision driver found in the Grand Series. This advanced driver delivers an incredibly wide soundstage from a single point with perfect phase alignment. The iconic diamond teardrop-shaped cabinet, adorned with MAD’s exclusive DRC (Damping Resonance Control) technology, combines elegance with unrivaled structural stability. Inspired by the multi-chassis system of the Range Rover, the Diamond incorporates hydrodynamic principles to eliminate diffraction, delivering unmatched acoustic purity.

Each custom driver is mounted using VCMD (Vibration Controlled Mount Device) technology, ensuring decoupling from the cabinet for the clearest, most pristine sound. This, in tandem with NPTA (Near-Perfect Time Alignment) baffle technology, results in an astonishingly holographic, cohesive stereo image, with exquisite detail and emotional resonance.

The Diamond Jubilee achieves sonic holography, meticulously preserving the intricate phase and spatial information embedded in recordings. Every technical decision is made to heighten the emotional impact, creating a profound and intimate connection with the listener, touching the soul with every note.

In every sense, The Diamond Jubilee is more than a loudspeaker; it is a gateway to a new sonic paradise, a perfect harmony where music and emotion merge, offering an experience that transcends the ordinary and reaches the sublime.*

LAUNCH OF MAD 1920 MA'AM

The best and most refined British Monitor ever made

MAD 1920 Ma’am: A Masterpiece of Haute Fidelity

In the world of high-fidelity sound, few brands command the level of reverence and admiration that MAD has cultivated over the years. Fifteen years ago, in a gesture as elegant as it was revolutionary, MAD Design Stage officially unveiled the original 1920 loudspeaker from its Whitehall, London atelier on Valentine’s Day. This compact near-field monitor became a symbol of impeccable audio artistry, an object of desire for audiophiles across the globe who had long yearned for something more—something truly musical, emotionally resonant, and unmistakably British.

Now, in celebration of its 15th anniversary, MAD presents the 1920 Ma’am, an exclusive edition of only 26 pairs, crafted in homage to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, born in 1926. Each speaker in this limited edition collection is the epitome of luxury, precision, and unrivaled craftsmanship—a masterpiece that redefines the very concept of haute fidelity.

With the 1920 Ma’am, MAD has achieved a new zenith in speaker design. Every component has been meticulously hand-selected and engineered to exacting standards, from the custom-designed internals to the iconic Audio Note silver-plated copper alloy binding posts. But the real pièce de résistance lies within: MAD’s Nano Cellulose Composite (NCC) midbass driver, born from a collaboration with former Scanspeak engineers. This cutting-edge technology strengthens the cone fibers with barely any increase in mass, ensuring an effortless, organic sound that envelops the listener in a sumptuous acoustic embrace.

The speaker’s chassis, hand coated in nano cellulose breathable coating, stands as a testament to the artistry of form and function, while even the mounting bolts—crafted from a proprietary, gold-plated alloy—exude an air of opulence. Inside, the crossover has been reimagined with MAD’s signature anti-vibration compound, transforming unwanted mechanical energy into warmth, thus preserving the purity of each note. The advanced Damping Resonance Control (DRC) technology deployed in the cabinet ensures a pristine soundstage, while the neodymium tweeter, stretching beyond 55kHz, delivers treble so fine it rivals the precision of the finest haute couture stitching.

Weighing 7.18kg, the 1920 Ma’am is a physical manifestation of its heritage—compact yet commanding, humble yet opulent. Hand-built in Britain, the speaker is available in hand-selected Golden Cherry and English Walnut finishes, each piece lovingly oiled by British artisans. This is craftsmanship at its most exalted, where the finest materials meet unparalleled artistry, and every detail speaks to the legacy of MAD’s pursuit of perfection.

The sonic transformation of the 1920 Ma’am is nothing short of extraordinary. The redesigned midrange flows with greater warmth, the low frequencies are deeper, more grounded, and the highs have attained a crystalline clarity that elevates each musical note into an emotional experience. Whether paired with a 5-watt amplifier or a powerhouse exceeding 100 watts, the 1920 Ma’am sings with elegance and poise, with a sensitivity of 91.5 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.

This is not just a speaker. The 1920 Ma’am is a collector’s piece—a rarefied object that transcends the ordinary, transforming sound into something magical, intimate, and luxurious. Each pair tells a story, carrying the rich legacy of MAD’s design mastery, while setting a new standard for what it means to experience music. Like a Chanel dress or a Cartier timepiece, the 1920 Ma’am is an embodiment of elegance, a timeless creation that resonates not only with sound but with soul.
